Is it a dumb idea to purposley put rabbits in a canyon for hunting?

i really want to hunt rabbits but i dont want to go too far from my house and there is a canyon behind where i live and i thought of buying some rabbits to put in the canyon so they can breed and i could hunt them... the canyon is very dead... there is no animals living in it except lizards eventhough there is alot of green trees and bushes.....
