My mom's making me go on this trip?

My mom wants to go to the Grand Canyon on like the first days of summer. Its making me mad because I want to stay home but she won't let me. I'm missing my best friends birthday party and she doesn't even get that its my first like ten days of my freshmen summer. I've already had enough people tell me how beautiful or whatever the Grand Canyon is but I think it's a waste of time. How can I convince my mom to let me stay home or at my grandparents or something? They only live like 4 houses down the street so it's no big deal
