Advice for an American living in Australia?

Make sure you bring A LOT OF MONEY. I have been here for a month and it's the most expensive place I have ever been to. Hotels are expensive about $150-200 a night. Rentals range from $280-$500 weekly with a 6 weeks deposit required. Vehicles are twice the cost they are in the US. Transportation system is great. Adult one month pass to all access of ferry's, busses and train is about $248 and children are $80 a month. Strollers work on the bus of any size strollers they are called Prams out here. 8 oz bottle of coke is $3.85 and a 2 liter bottle is $5.00. People make much more money out here than in the US. Minimum wage is like $15 an hour out here, so everything is more expensive because of that.
