After the Allies had effectively defeated and invaded Germany, death camps in the eastern parts of Hitler's German empire began to destroy records and burn as many of the camp population as they could before being raided by the invading Allied military powers. The Allies were shocked to discover the extent of the death camps, Hitler even tried to hide the existence of the camps from German citizens as he knew many Germans would object the treatment non-Aryans received in them, which is why most of the camps were located outside of the main state of German in eastern states. A great deal of the medical experimentation records were destroyed by those who'd had involvement and wanted to protect themselves. The majority of the records of Josef Mengele, perhaps the most infamous doctor who liked to experiment on twins and dwarves at Auschwitz, were destroyed by the Nazis as well.
