Where is a good/nice place to live on the east coast prefer not in the city yho?

Hi we currently love on the west coast but wnt to move over east to NSW or possibly VIC but don't want to live in the cities about an hour or so out would be fine but also need somewhere there are jobs and cost of living is not to high. Were looking at Canberra but rent seems to be really high I no I'm asking alot lol but any help would be appreciated
