Why are they spraying so much chemicals in Australian skies?

Here in Canberra, if you look up in the sky, you see all these patterns of chemtrails. They're doing this non stop. Recently I'm seeing more of these trails than ever before. The normal contrail disappears but these are very long and stay in the sky for hours.
